Meet Our City Council Candidates Friday

Hi everyone,

Given the state of the state, now is an important time to get civic- starting with Burlington Town Meeting Day.

There's a Burlington City Council candidate forum this Friday night (2/24) at 6:30PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Pearl Street. For those of us in the 'Centennial' neighborhood, our East District City Council candidates are Charles Winkleman and Richard Deane.

Both candidates have taken time to stop by my home and introduce themselves which I greatly appreciate.

Mr. Winkleman is a passionate defender of a livable wage, dedicating his after-work hours to making sure Burlington is a place that all people can afford to call home. As Mr. Winkleman related his experiences as a teacher at Burlington Children's Space, it was clear to me that he has a ground floor view on real issues that are pressing Burlington families.

Mr. Deane is a long-term resident of who returned Burlington to raise his family. Listening to his story and why he's running for city council, I got a strong sense of Mr. Deane's commitment to our incredible city as he seeks to guide its growth without losing any of its character and values.

Both made it clear to me that there are several issues facing our city and that they are informed and prepared to represent this district.

If you can't make the forum on Friday, you can familiarize yourself with their perspectives here:

Town Meeting Day (Voting Day) is Tuesday March 7.
