Many Vermonters are surprised to learn that a current state statute limits the effectiveness of green burials in Vermont. However, a new bill introduced at the state house could change that by changing the mandatory minimum burial depth.
On February 11th from 1:30-3:00pm in the Fletcher Room of the Fletcher Free Library in Burlington there will be an event to discuss how changing burial depth can make green burial an option for everyone in Vermont. Green burial advocate Michelle Acciavatti and wildlife biologist Carl Anderson will screen a short documentary on green burial, "Dying Green", followed by a discussion about what the current barriers to green burial in Vermont are and how a new bill H3 could change that by changing the mandatory minimum burial depth.
