Alzheimer's and Dementia: Communication Strategies Feb. 9

Past event
Feb 9, 2017, 5:30 to 7:30 PM

Brattleboro Area Hospice and the Alzheimer's Association of VT will host a free education program about Effective Communication Strategies for Caregivers of People with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Communicating is more than just talking and listening--it's also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. As people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. Join us for this FREE program as we explore how communication takes places when someone has Alzheimer's, decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease. Light refreshments will be provided. Pre-registration is required and seating is limited. To register please call: Brattleboro Area Hospice at 802-257-0775, ext 102 or patty.dunn@brattleborohospice.org
