The Mount Mansfield school board will meet on Monday December 19th at 6:30 PM at Underhill Central School (a tour of the facilities will begin at 6 PM). The board will hear from the student representatives, the principal, any community comments, updates from committees, and the 2017-18 budget recommendations. The Finance committee plans to meet again on January 5th, and the full board is expected to approve a proposed budget on January 9th.

Earlier this week, the Finance committee had an informative and productive dialogue with a number of our Senators and Representatives. Senator Baruth noted that two years ago the Mount Mansfield merger had been highlighted in the legislature as an example of a successful merger, and that we had we found the expected financial savings. The board and administration continue to seek operational efficiencies for our taxpayers and cost effective improvements to education delivery for our students.

The Mount Mansfield Modified Union School Board and Chittenden East Supervisory Union Governing Board conventionally have joint meetings, generally the first and third Mondays of each month. MMMUSD includes Mount Mansfield Union High, Browns River Middle, Camel’s Hump Middle, Jericho Elementary, Richmond Elementary, Smilie Memorial (Bolton), Underhill Central, and Underhill I.D. schools. CESU includes Special Education, Transportation, and Central Office for both MMMUSD and the Huntington elementary school. The Brewster Pierce Memorial School Board (Huntington) meets separately.
