The Vermont Democratic Party is looking to hire a team of talented part-time field organizers for its upcoming 2024 coordinated campaign.
Overview:
Field Organizers will be responsible for spearheading our grassroots operations throughout a region within the State, reporting to their Regional Organizing Director. They'll be responsible for driving voter contact goals; developing relationships with key leaders and allies from across a variety of constituencies; coordinating, training, and developing teams of top-tier lead volunteers and interns; and working with the VDP team on strategic earned media events. An up-to-date drivers license and access to a working vehicle is a key asset for potential applicants. Field Organizers will be full participants in the staff team - engaging regularly in strategy sessions, trainings, and team meetings. Field Organizers will be assigned to local state house and senate districts, and will be held accountable to reaching stated voter and volunteer contact goals in those districts.
What We're Looking For:
1. Flexibility with a part-time 15-20 hour/week schedule.
2. Recruitment skills, with experience identifying, training, and motivating grassroots volunteers and leaders.
3. Disciplined professionalism--ideal candidates will be timely, hardworking, ready to work long, often irregular hours in fast-paced environments to get the job done, and consistently able to convey a professional tone to volunteers, supporters, voters, and fellow staffers.
Other skills/experience that will be helpful in the role are:
1. Knowledge of the political landscape in Vermont.
2. Experience with voter contact practices – knowledge of canvassing and phone banking best practices.
3. Efficiency on computers is required.
