The Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of the locally-defined progress of Vermont's rural communities. VCRD is a dynamic partnership of federal, state, local, nonprofit and private partners. Actively non-partisan with an established reputation for community-based facilitation, VCRD is uniquely positioned to sponsor and coordinate collaborative efforts across governmental and organizational categories concerned with policy questions of rural import.

Since its inception in 1992, VCRD has built a profile of rural policy leadership that is grounded by work in local communities and extends to collaborative partnerships with the highest levels of state and federal programs.

Join your friends and neighbors on Tuesday, May 14th from 6:30-9:00 pm at the Franklin Town Hall to build action plans for community priorities chosen through the Franklin Community Voices process.

At this meeting, community members will break into task force groups to define next steps and develop concrete plans with help from statewide experts and resource providers. The three task forces for the community-led initiatives will work to:

Franklin Community Voices is a 3-month process (meeting dates include March 19, April 18, and May 14) to engage everyone in town in brainstorming ideas and identifying important priorities for the future. The Vermont Council on Rural Development, a neutral facilitator invited by the Franklin Selectboard, provides the overall structure and neutral facilitation each step of the way.

Times, Topics, and Locations:

4:30-6pm:
-Lake Carmi @ Franklin United Church, 5374 Main St
-Building a Welcoming Community @ Franklin Town Hall, 5336 Main St

6-7pm:
FREE Community Dinner featuring music by Uncle John's Band @ Franklin United Church

7-8:30pm:
-Recreation & Community Events @ Franklin United Church
-Economic Development: Workforce & Business @ Franklin Town Hall

Attend the topic sessions most important to you! All are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Childcare will be provided during forums.
