About the Role:
• Position: Special Education Teacher at Sheldon Academy
• Location: Rutland, VT 05701 (Relocation required)
• Pay: $23.25 per hour
• Hours: Work 8-hour day shifts (Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm) for a 10-month position, following the school calendar for seasonal breaks and federal holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct instruction, in-class support for learning and social skills, and therapeutic support.
• Assess student abilities and monitor general education and IEP goal achievement, with minimal tri-annual evaluation responsibilities.
• Implement, edit, and consult on IEP plans; share case management responsibilities and prepare IEP progress reports.
• Collaborate with general educators to prepare report cards and attend student meetings as scheduled.
• Plan and implement curriculum based on Vermont State Standards, maintain organized materials and student records, and provide consultation on therapeutic and behavior support methods.

Qualifications:
• B.S. or B.A. in Education or Special Education (Master's preferred) with Vermont Special Education Licensure K-12 or eligibility.
• 3 years of teaching experience with behaviorally/emotionally disturbed children.
• Valid Vermont driver's license and strong communication, organizational, and basic computer skills.
• Proficient in special education law, IEPs, and assessments.
• Deep understanding of learning disabilities, emotional-behavioral issues, and skilled in relationship management, emergency response, adaptability, and team collaboration.

• Collaborate with the educational team and implement therapeutic methods for student success and safety.

Qualifications:
• B.S. or B.A. in relevant subject area with VT Teaching License (K-8) and valid Vermont driver's license.
• 2 years of experience with behaviorally/emotionally disturbed children.
• Strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills.
• Strong knowledge of core subjects (e.g., Math, Science, English) and understanding of learning, emotional-behavioral challenges, and developmental disabilities.
• Proficient in behavior intervention techniques, relationship management, and emergency response, with basic computer proficiency.
