The University of Vermont (UVM) Extension Master Gardener program started in 1991 as a unique volunteer program where Vermonters received training by university faculty and industry professionals on research-based gardening information. Bennington Chapter members manage a number of educational garden sites from Bennington to Manchester, provide community education on horticultural topics during the year, and host a plant sale annually that supports scholarships for the UVM EMG course that takes place online every winter for 16 weeks.
