🐟Did you know that Sweetland's farm store is an abundant source of sustainably caught fish, including wild Alaskan Sablefish? Less expensive and considered by Alaskans in the know as far superior to King Salmon, Alaskans joke that they sell salmon, but eat Sablefish!
🛥️Sablefish has a top eco-rating because of a highly effective management program and a healthy population. The sablefish that we offer in the Sweetland Farm Store is caught in 'pots' with very low bycatch, which means significantly reduced bottom damage that occurs with trawling. What bycatch occurs is typically abundant Pacific Cod, which we also sell!
🐟The magic of sablefish is that it can be cooked in a dry pan with just a little salt and pepper, and results in the most silky, buttery fish you've ever eaten. It is high in B12, B6, Magnesium, Iron, and Calcium and quite forgiving to the cook because of its high fat content.
