Sandbox & Apparel Impact: Partnership Announcement!
We are thrilled to announce our most recent partnership with another New England company that shares our commitment to keeping clothing in the hands of those in need and out of landfills: Apparel Impact and together, we are committed to making a positive impact in our community.
This initiative is dedicated to providing garments to those in need while ensuring that a small percentage of unwanted items will be recycled into insulation and industrial carpets.
At Sandbox we understand that the statistics surrounding global clothing waste can be overwhelming, and there is no perfect solution to address the magnitude of this issue. However, we are dedicated to actively seeking out solutions and reducing our impact in meaningful ways.
Community Outreach : Items in good condition are donated to underserved communities and veterans in need through a number of community outreach events throughout New England.
Upcycling : Items that may not be suitable for donations due to their damaged or too worn condition can be upcycled into new products like bags, dog bags or even garments , ask Coach Jo at Sandbox!
Reusing : Impact Apparel colaborates with clothing graders, non-profit thrift stores, consignment shops and vintage clothing stores, this way they ensure that items in good condition can be worn again. This accounts for almost 80% of all clothing diverted from landfills.
Downcycling : These items make up approximately 5% collected, and is downcycled into industrial wiping rags, insulation, emergency blankets, carpet, and pet bed stuffing.
Thank you for joining us on this journey!
You can find the AI bin outside of our studio at (688 Pine Street, Suite C) which is freely accessible to our local community.
Items accepted: clothing, shoes, accessories, and bedding
We also encourage you to consider donating special items directly to our studio for upcycling and to support our mission!
