Taxes can be confusing, that's why NEKCA's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is here to help! If you live in Caledonia, Orleans or Essex County, and have a household income under $67,000 you are eligible for FREE tax assistance. Our team can help you file your State and Federal returns, Homestead Declaration and Property Tax Credit, and Renters Credit. If you have dependents living in your home and you're not sure if you are eligible for an earned income tax credit or child tax credit, you can contact us for an appointment or over the phone consultation.
Our certified volunteers and paid staff will help you file during our normal tax season or can help if you did not get a chance to file after tax season is over. If you have received a confusing letter from the IRS, or forgot to file a property tax adjustment claim, we can assist you at no cost. Vermonters with disabilities and limited English speaking are also eligible for this FREE service.
We help Vermonters each year claim their refunds and credits and help put dollars back into our communities.
To schedule an appointment, call NEKCA at 855-663-5224. We have sites in St Johnsbury, Newport, Island Pond and Canaan.
What to bring:
· W-2's, 1099's, and any other tax documents you may have received, a valid driver's license or ID and social security cards for yourself and dependents.
· If you're a homeowner, you will need to bring your most recent tax bill.
