Manchester's NTBC is joining with East Dorset and Arlington congregations. Don't forget about time change! Sleep in, but then come join us for this special service. East Dorset Congregational Church and New Testament Baptist Church would like to invite the public to a special service and potluck dinner at 16 Village Street in East Dorset on Sunday, Nov. 3rd at 10:30 am. The church is saying goodbye to their pastor for the past 29 years: Pastor Larry Jenney. Larry and his wife, Evelyn, have quietly served this community for decades, and they are passing the reins to Pastor Fred Roberts of New Testament Baptist Church who has been filling the pulpit for several months now.
The East Dorset Congregational building was constructed in 1838 by a Union Society of local residents at a cost of $1,550, raised by the sale of "slips", the pews each family purchased. The beautiful, huge stained-glass windows and paneled walls of the large sanctuary have been well cared for. The need for a fellowship hall led to the construction of the second building on the property, the chapel, in 1914. A bell tower repair was the most recent building project and the bell rings loudly for services each Sunday morning.
Please join us as we send the Jenneys off to their new home in Pennsylvania after almost 30 years of pastoring in East Dorset. Pastor Larry will bring a message at 10:30, followed immediately by the dinner on the grounds and the public is warmly welcome to attend, with a love offering collected for the Jenneys. Moving forward, congregations from Arlington, Manchester, and East Dorset will all work to continue to serve the local community at the same location. Count on the church ladies from both New Testament Baptist and East Dorset Congregational churches to be bringing their best and favorite dishes.
