We're joining in with the spring frenzy here at Moonlight Mountain Farm in Roxbury. We are a hillside farmstead cultivating shiitake, growing flowers, and raising pastured lamb. SHIITAKE
Love shiitake? Us too. On Saturday, May 4th, 1-4 p.m., we will host our 14th annual hands-on SHITAKEPALOOZA workshop, an opportunity to learn about log-grown shiitake cultivation at a homestead and small business scale. We cover preferred tree species, spawn types, inoculation tools and technique, and ideal growing environments. This interactive workshop includes a farm/forest walking tour and opportunities for learning by doing. The workshop fee is $30/participant and includes a shiitake-inoculated log to take home; additional inoculated logs will be available for purchase at $20. FLOWERS
They're coming for us, in great colorful numbers. Moonlight Mountain Farm grows chemical-free blooms, both outrageous and sublime. We want them in your hands, in your homes, and at your events. Mark your calendars for a Mother's Day pop-up flower shop at Carrier Roasting Co. on Saturday, May 11th, 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.; pre-orders will be available. We will again offer our summer flower share option (4- or 8-week, July - September), a weekly bouquet subscription of seasonal blooms that last for DAYS AND DAYS AND DAYS. Flower share pick-up will be at Good Measure on Thursdays. (Flower shares make great gifts for the moms and ones you love.) You gather the people, we'll gather the flowers for your summer events (baby showers, birthday parties, weddings, etc.); we will offer DIY buckets of bulk flowers, an a la carte wedding flower menu, and flower bar set-up at your event. Also stay tuned for our Summer Friday Night Flower Bar series - happy flowers can be a great way to end long weeks. Flower mayhem commence! LAMB
Our lambs are lovingly raised gorging on GRASS. Contact us for lamb meat cut availability and price list; any purchase over $75 comes with a bonus dozen of farm-fresh eggs or farm-pressed cider. We also have plush lambskins available - perfect for babies, housewarming gifts, or to spoil yourself with some increased COZY while we wait for the heat of summer to hit.
