Hi neighbors!
Do you have a few extra acres that are unloved/unused? A trail system that you're dying to share? Are you looking to bring in a little extra cash each month? Would you like free pet care?
My name is Leah, and I'm the owner and operator of Leah's Pet Sitting, Dog Walking & Drop-in Care. My dog walking business is growing fast! To better-serve my current and future clients, I'm looking to RENT access to your privately-owned land so that I can have a safe and reliable place to walk small groups of dogs off leash during the week. In exchange, I am offering monthly rent payments ($$) and/or free/discounted pet care.
What is a pack walk?
- Pack walks are well-structured group walking sessions that encourage dogs to walk in rhythm. The result? Dogs that are more balanced, fulfilled and relaxed.
How many dogs do I walk and how long do walks last?
- I take 4-8 hand-selected, fully-vaccinated, and well-trained dogs out for 2 hours at a time, 2-4 days per week.
- Each dog is required to have excellent recall and is equipped with visibility/safety gear (long leashes, blaze orange bandanas and wildlife bells).
Why we need private land:
- Safety: Private land keeps us safe from a lot of the distractions/dangers found on public trails, including other walkers, unreliable off-leash dogs, dropped food and cars/traffic.
- Accessibility: Navigating busy trails, closed trails and poorly-maintained trails is a big bummer and takes away from our time spent outside.
- Consistency: Consistency is key for walking a safe, balanced and happy pack. When our environment is stable, we can hone our skills and spend more time sniffing, learning, running and playing.
The ideal spot:
- Privately-owned
- Within ~30 minutes of Montpelier (East Montpelier, Plainfield, or Calais is preferred, but I have an open mind!)
- A safe distance from major roads
- A well-maintained/plowed driveway or trailhead - easily accessible by car in both winter and mud season
- Water access (lakes, ponds, rivers or streams)
- A minimum ~5 acres if fenced, or a minimum ~10 acres if unfenced
How we'll help you:
- I'll pay a monthly rent (reliable and passive!) in exchange for access to your land 1-4x per week - we can work out a schedule and rate that works for both of us
- If your dog is a good fit for my pack, they can join for free
- Excellent communication, another set of eyes on your property, and trail care and maintenance (including poo pick-up, always)
Having private land to walk on with the pack is such a blessing. If you have a bit of land that might be a good fit, or you know someone who does, please reach me at: hello@leahspetsittingvt.com
