Hello Neighbors!

The High Hopes 4-H Club Embryology project starts tomorrow and will meet occasionally over the next 23 days (the incubation period for a chicken is 21 days!). Final hatch should be May 2.

We'll meet a couple Thursdays and Sundays for observation. Youth may sign up to be the Hen of the Day to turn eggs occasionally, and our biggest information session will be tomorrow, April 10, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. It's O.K. to miss a session or two.

Youth don't need to have chickens and parents don't need to want chickens in order for youth to participate! Unless you specifically want to adopt some of the chicks, they will stay here!

The High Hopes 4-H club Rent-a-Hen program is going strong and adding a few more units for this season.

You get a moveable tractor with 2, 3, or 4 hens, all the food, equipment, and supplies needed to keep hens from May through September.

It's O.K. to go on vacation, and O.K. if you have some predators -- just don't free range if you do!

1/2 the cost of the national chicken rental price. The High Hopes 4-H Club receives a donation from every rental unit. 4-H'ers helped build the tractors and... read more ▼

7:30 to 8:00 - Chicken Dance!

8:50 - arrive
9:00 to 10:00 - learning session
10:00 to 10:15 - fruit break
10:15 to 12:00 - learning session rotations
12:00 to 12:30 - lunch
12:30 to 1:30 - learning session
1:30 to 2:30 - learning session
2:30 to 2:45 - fruit/snack
2:45 to 3:30 - active learning session
3:30 to 4:00 - clean up and evaluation
