Upper Valley Baroque's mission is to create transformative experiences with audiences, performers, and learners through live Baroque music beautifully performed. Founded in September 2021 by Upper Valley (VT/NH) music enthusiasts, three full seasons of concerts by UVB's professional ensembles have met with acclaim and a growing following. UVB is building a community of music lovers who appreciate high-level performance of this rich repertoire by Baroque specialists, on period instruments and carefully matched vocalists. This musical collaboration between the Rutland Area Chorus, Grace Festival Orchestra and guest soloists under the direction of Alastair Stout is an eagerly anticipated and well-attended yearly event. Originally presented during Eastertide in 1742 in its entirety, Part 1 of Handel's Messiah is a jubilant piece which depicts the Christmas story.
This year's performance features soloists Evangelia Leontis, soprano, Amy Frostman, mezzo soprano, Ryan Mangan, tenor, and David Rugger, bass. Nearly 100 volunteer singers will be part of the Rutland Area Chorus and 20 instrumentalists make up the Grace Festival Orchestra.
The performances will be at Grace Congregational UCC in Rutland, VT on Sunday, December 15 at 3:30 and 7:00 pm. No tickets are required, but seating will be first come first served and anticipated attendance is high. Parking is available in the West Street parking lot, along Center and Court Street and in the Rutland City parking garage. A freewill offering is most graciously accepted.
