Franklin County Nomadic Yetis

The Franklin County Nomadic Yetis is a grade 7-12 wrestling club.

Our community has 4 high schools in the area that do not have wrestling programs. Our club's mission is to create a 4-school wrestling co-op team that has a stand-alone facility to practice in. For the last 20 years the town has had a youth wrestling program that athletes "age out" from at 11 yrs. old. The athletes have no follow-on program to move in to in order to continue in the sport during high school. This season the youth wrestling program has 26 athletes from ages 4-11. In prior seasons the youth team has consistently had this level of participation and only 1 athlete in the past 7 yrs has chosen to continue wrestling by switching high schools and traveling 45 minutes south of our community, daily, to wrestle at Essex High School in Essex, VT. Most families in our county cannot afford this type of commitment especially if the athlete has siblings which would place family members in separate school districts.
