With a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and English Literature, my degrees have helped me successfully teach children to build strong foundational reading, writing, and critical math skills.
I have been a K-3 classroom teacher for over 20 years, teaching in diverse, award-winning public and private schools.
My tutoring philosophy includes helping children build confidence in the subject area(s) they are familiar with but need more practice and repetition. I am strategic as I build on critical foundational skills to support the subject areas in which they still need support.
I also believe that each child learns, processes information, and blooms at different paces. When working with young children, I will:
*Work at their developmentally appropriate pace.
*Scaffold lessons/skills to help build their knowledge so they can return to school and participate in class confidently.
*Incorporate movement, games, and fun activities into their learning!
Lessons can be:
*One-on-one instructions
*Small groups of up to four students
* Homework help
*Individualized math, writing, reading fluency, and reading comprehension instructions.
