With a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and English Literature, my degrees have helped me successfully teach children to build strong foundational reading, writing, and critical math skills for many years.
I have been a K-3 classroom teacher for over 20 years, teaching in diverse, award-winning public and private schools.
My tutoring philosophy includes helping children build confidence in the subject area(s) they are familiar with but they still need more practice and repetition to master their academic skills. I am strategic as I build on critical foundational skills to support the subject areas in which they still need support.
I also believe that each child learns, processes information, and blooms at different paces. When working with young children, I will:
*Work at their developmentally appropriate pace.
*Scaffold lessons/skills to help build their knowledge so they can return to school and participate in class confidently.
*Incorporate movement, games, and fun activities into their learning!
Lessons can be:
*One-on-one instructions
*Small groups of up to four students for discounted rates (bring along friends you know!)
* Homework help
*Individualized math, writing, reading fluency, and reading comprehension instructions.
