CHI is still looking for Host Families here in Essex and the greater Burlington area. Please let me know if you or anyone in your circle of family & friends might be interested. Host families are active participants in selecting their student. My wife and I have hosted 6 students over the past four years, three of them here at Essex High School. The experience is truly life changing! Below are two prospective student examples:

Enrico from Brazil is flexible and family-oriented. He will be 16 on arrival and in the 11th grade this fall. He is an only-child, and his grandparents are Portuguese so he has some exposure to Portuguese culture, in addition to the Brazilian culture. He has older cousins who have also been exchange students, and he enjoyed learning about their experiences in the US. He describes himself as "friendly, adaptable, helpful, loving, calm and easy to deal with." He likes to play video-games, volleyball, a little bit of soccer, go out with friends, and watch TV with his family. He has two cats, which he loves. He would like to be placed in the Northeast.

Allegra from Italy is cheerful, kind, and genuine. She will be 16 on arrival and in the 12th grade this fall. She has one younger brother and they are a close-knit family. Tennis is a passion for Allegra and she says that the sport brings her immense joy and fulfillment. Outside of tennis she loves walking in nature, skiing, reading, and cooking. Her parents say, "She is genuine and pure, deeply appreciates what life can offer her both in happy situations and unhappy ones. She is reliable, confident, very easy going and listening to others to help." She is a very strong student with glowing teacher recommendations, and she hopes to be a doctor, like her dad.

There are still over 110 students just like Enrico and Allegra who are needing a host family. Please ping me and I would be happy to provide details on the process for this rewarding and life changing experience!
