Vermont Habitat for Humanity affiliates are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking event in the fight against Vermont's housing crisis. On Saturday, September 21st, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the inaugural "From Dome to Home" wall-raising celebration will take place on the Statehouse lawn in Montpelier, in front of Vermont's iconic Golden Dome.
This unique event will unite volunteers, including state elected representatives, in a demonstration of community spirit and dedication to affordable housing. Under the guidance of Habitat for Humanity leaders, teams will build and assemble wall sections for a ceremonial wall raising, marking the start of a new, energy-efficient home at 22 Hill Street in Barre City. This single-unit house will adhere to Efficiency Vermont's high-performance energy standards and offer a crucial housing solution for an income-sensitive homeowner, who will actively participate in the building process.
The celebration highlights the urgent need for affordable housing in Vermont and aims to inspire further community involvement and support. The public is invited to attend, with registration required for those interested in volunteering. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
