The Green at Camp Meade is a gathering place for events and social congress of all kinds. In this day and age of electronic and virtual connection we need to have places that bring us all together as friends and neighbors in the age old traditions of town gatherings. The importance of the communal lunch or dinner at town gatherings cannot be understated.
Originally, Camp Meade was a historic Civilian Conservation Corps work camp in the 1930's.
The 110 CCC Company, Veterans Contingent were known as the Monarchs of Middlesex. Many public works projects were built by these men and women, including the flood control projects of Waterbury dam and reservoir and Wrightsville dam and reservoir.
Camp Meade was a hot bed of creative activity then and still is to this day.
Presently the home to Red Hen Bakery and Café, The Local: A Wine & Beer Shop, Sally's Second Act, Sam Lightner Glass Studio, and The Green, a concert venue and gathering space for all, Camp Meade is a place of sustenance for the body and the soul.
In June of 2018 Camp Meade started hosting "Events on The Green", featuring free live concerts every Friday and Sunday evening throughout the entire summer season. So bring a chair or blanket and enjoy some fresh food and cold beverages provided by local businesses while you enjoy the live music!
The Green at Camp Meade is located behind Red Hen Bakery and is where these gatherings of social congress take place.
