Bridport Community Communications & Events (BCC&E) Task Force

A task force of Bridport residents has come together to improve community communication and events. This is one of two priorities chosen by Bridport residents who participated in the Bridport Comes Together forums, a Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) process that unfolded from May through July of 2024.

Communications Focus - Currently community events are posted across a number of websites, physical sites, via word of mouth, or you are just "in the know". The task force will be supporting the use of the Front Porch Forum (FPF) Bridport Area Community Calendar to co-locate all our Community Events with the goal that it evolves into the "one stop shopping" to find out what is going on in our town. In parallel, the task force will support getting more residents on FPF as 533 residents have already done so far. In addition, as appropriate, the longer-term plan is to use The Addison Independent Calendar of Events, flyers at Pratt's Store, a community newsletter, and emails to announce certain events.

Events Focus - Bridport already has a number of groups that hold events that bring people together over common interests, such as local history, 4H, and school events. The task force wants to generate events that appeal to a wide cross-section of the community. To do so, it will hold one all-community event each season.
