Greetings to all our Bennington County neighbors, and those from further afield! Today, April 10th, 2024, marks the birth of a new culinary delight – I hereby declare that the Vermont-Style bagel, is now a thing!

What sets a Vermont-style bagel apart, you may wonder? Unlike its New York or Montreal counterparts, or even the odd "Flagel" from New Jersey; the Vermont-style bagel brings something wholly unique and distinctive to the table. It embodies the spirit of our land and community, offering a rustic and hearty flavor that's as fulfilling as it is delicious. Crafted with local ingredients whenever possible, these bagels are more than just food; they're a reflection of our collective resilience and character.

Diving Into the Ingredients
Our commitment to quality shines through in our choice of ingredients – a homage to both tradition and Vermont's rich agricultural heritage. We use the nationally known King Arthur bread flour, a nod to our own journey from Boston to Vermont. The unadulterated spring water in our bagels comes straight from a natural spring source in the Green Mountain National Forest, ensuring each bite carries the purity of our landscapes. Our bagels are sweetened with Wildflower Honey from our neighbors at However Wild Farm of Shaftsbury, and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. The secret ingredient? "Rene," our beloved 14-year-old sourdough starter, a cherished birthday gift to Lauren, and now a cornerstone of our unique flavor.

Our Journey Forward
Since our opening for business in November 2023, we've been overwhelmed by your support and enthusiasm. As we dream of and work towards opening our own storefront, your continued support is invaluable in helping shaping this dream into a reality. Our mission remains the same as when we started: to serve the community with the highest quality bagels, and become your favorite neighbors, who feed you well.

Here's how you can join us on this journey forward:
- Stay connected: Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates and insights into the Bennington Bagel Company (BBCo.) story.
- Preorder for Saturday pickups direct from us: Secure your bagels through our Bagel Window most Saturday mornings. We accept preorders up to 6 weeks in advance – don't wait until we're at maximum capacity! We're fortunate that it happens often.
- Find us locally: Our bagels are available at select partner locations on Thursdays and Fridays. Visit our website for more details about which locations and the drop times at each!

We're deeply and truly grateful for the warm welcome and support from this community over the past six months. Starting this venture has been a dream come true for Lauren and me, and we're honored to be a part of the vibrant fabric that is southwest Vermont.
