The League of Women Voters is again hosting an informal voter study group at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, this Thursday, October 13th, from 6-7:00 p.m. If you'd like to take an hour to do some research about the issues and candidates before voting in November's election, this could be a great time to do it! We'll each do our own research, but keep each other company while we do it.
Here's a good selection of nonpartisan websites to use to do your research:
vote411.org
votesmart.org
ballotpedia.org
factcheck.org
politifact.com
maplight.org
opensecrets.org
isidewith.com
allsides.com
pollingreport.com
You can find out about local legislators, for instance their voting history and bios, by going to www.legislature.vermont.gov and searching for them by name.
Lastly, you can read the fact-checked text of the October 9th presidential debate on National Public Radio's website at: www.npr.org/2016/10/09/497056227/fact-check-clinton-and-trump-debate-for-the-second-time and they have the same thing for the first presidential debate as well as the vice-presidential debate. Gotta love NPR!
Thank you for being engaged citizens!
