Chicken Pie Cook-Off Now by Donation Friday, Oct. 14

Past event
Oct 14, 2016, 5 to 7 PM

This Friday's Chicken Pie Cook-Off will now be a by-donation event to make it easier for more people to attend and to focus on being together in this time of sorrow. Although the event is hosted by the Waterbury Congregational Church, the meal is really being made by the community, for the community.

Eleven local restaurants and caterers are preparing a chicken pie for the competition with diners judging the best pie and an award going to the people's favorite pan. While the tone may not be as lighthearted and playful as we’d originally hoped, we do aspire to make it a meaningful celebration of community, love and connection — which will hopefully bring joy to many as well.

Food will be served from 5 to 7 p.m., seating will be family style, and sides of potato and squash will round out the meal. A big thanks to our pie-making contenders: Blackback Pub, Blue Stone Pizza, Fiddlehead’s Catering, Hender’s Bakery, KC’s Bagels, Le Petit Gourmet, Pete’s Greens, The Reservoir, Stowe Street Cafe, and Village Market, as well as to Cold Hollow Cider for the bounty of apples for our dessert crisp.

The Waterbury Congregational Church at the White Meeting House is located on 8 North Main Street in Waterbury Village. Info: 244-6606.
