Standing Rock Support Night: Film Showing & Discussion

Past event
Oct 14, 2016, 7 PM

Standing rock sioux tribe is asserting their sovereignty and independence from the colonial powers by occupying the traditional territory of their ancestors. Under laws written by the united states government they have the right to practice traditional hunting fishing and ceremonial practices. The proposal of a pipeline going directly through what territory they have left is in direct threat to these traditional life ways.

The Sterling Environmental & Social Justice Club is hosting a movie night on October 14th, at 7pm, in Common House, Craftsbury Common. We will be showing 'Corridors of Resistance', a film about the Unist'ot'en pipeline resistance in British Columbia, a similar situation to what is happening in Standing Rock today. We might also have some shorter clips from Standing Rock, and there will be opportunity for discussion afterwards. Come and learn how you can help the sioux protect their land rights!

Also see our other FPF posting for info about winter clothing drop off points for Standing Rock.
