Thank you Loraine Morse for posting the ID4 meeting on the Forum. I encourage all to attend this meeting as the issue of relocating the town gym to the Rec Park is not as simple as it may seems. The proposed gym is smaller than the current one, will not include space for new future programs, will displace the basketball court and tot playground and does not include a plan to mitigate parking and traffic safety impacts. The estimated cost is approximately 3.25 million dollars. Estimates last year had upgrades to the existing gym downtown at approximately 1 million dollars.

This ID4 Board review is the time to learn all the facts about the proposal and ask questions. It is equally important as the Steering Committee "listening meeting" about the whole office/gym project being held on Thursday Oct 17th at 7 pm in the town gym. There are many details that are not getting out to the public and I encourage people to come to these meetings, ask questions and hopefully learn what this proposal really includes. We must know the full impacts of moving our municipal facilities, what it will really cost us and what exactly an agreement with Middlebury College will include.
