– Chocolate As You May Not Know It is the theme of the second in the Main Street Arts Taste of the Arts series Thursday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.
Michael Klug will bring his own take on the confection (and perhaps some samples of his craft) when he shares his expertise as chocolatier for L.A. Burdick Chocolates of Walpole, N.H.
As chocolatier, Klug’s responsibility is to develop the flavors, textures and complexities found in Burdick confections while maintaining the integrity and freshness the company is known for.
A native of Montabaur, Germany, a small town located between Frankfurt and Cologne, Klug began his career in the food industry in 1986, eventually joining L.A. Burdick Chocolate in October 2002. His considerable expertise as chocolatier developed from his experience as a pastry chef at notable New York restaurants such as Lespinasse, Chanterelle and The Mark. When he is not immersed in chocolate, he enjoys fine wines and spending time with his wife and son.
Klug’s presentation will be preceded by a locally-prepared dinner.
Reservations are required by Tuesday, Oct. 11 and can be made by contacting MSA at (802) 869-2960, e-mailing info@mainstreetarts.org. or online at www.mainstreetarts.org. Tickets for the talk and dinner are $24 for adults and $12 for children under 12 accompanied by an adult.
The series continues its food-related theme this year with a talk by founders of Blake Hill Preserves of Grafton on November 3.
Now in its 28th year, Main Street Arts is a non-profit community arts center dedicated to serving the creative needs of the greater community by encouraging creative exploration and expression through a wide range of experiences. Further information is available at www.MainStreetArts.org.
