Bouncing, Violins and Fish at the market this week!

This week will feature one of our day vendors newly returned from Alaska! He has been there all summer working hard to bring us his salmon, sustainably caught by hook and line, a small quantity catch method that ensures an attention to detail and superior quality with each fish. This week he’ll have Coho, Red King and Ivory King Salmon fillets and Smoked Coho Strips, all in frozen, vacuum sealed portions.

Farmers this week will have chicken, bacon and lamb sausage, many tomato varieties, lettuce mix, dandelion greens, kale, zucchini, carrots, salad turnip, tomatillos, peppers, winter squash, fresh baby ginger, sweet corn, fall raspberries, pickles, sweet potatoes, onions, beets, corn relish and applesauce.

If you’re hungry, we can fix that. Our authentic Mexican food, including tamales, tacos, quesadillas and burritos will help you spice up your Friday, or if you’d rather go Italian you can get some delicious wood fired pizza. We’ll also have bureks and sesame noodles, and if you’re feeling like it’s time to embrace the fall for dessert, pumpkin spice and other flavored popcorns, sweet hand pies, apple crisp sweetened with maple syrup, maple candies and pistol.

Crafters this week will have sweet smelling beeswax candles and handmade soaps and lotions, soft lamb skins, and creative handmade woodcrafts.

Don’t forget your tote! You’ll have it filled by the time you make it around the market, with traditional and bourbon barrel aged maple syrup, honey, honey cream, maple cookies, lots of different breads and buns, croissants, full wrapped pizzas to have for dinner later, full-sized fruit pies and gorgeous freshly cut flowers.

Lots of entertainment for the kids this week at the market! Our amazingly talented volunteer face painting artist will return, donations are always welcome! Additionally, we’ll once again have the super fun bounce house, brought to us by SunCommon.

Music at 5:00 will be performed by Vermont Suzuki Violins. VSV began in 1993, and their students range in age from 4 to 18, from beginner to advanced, violin, viola and cello. Their mission is to nurture and inspire young musicians to play, perform and appreciate classical music. They are a non-profit 501(C)3 organization that provides Suzuki group classes for all levels and an intense Chamber Music Program for more advanced students. Many of the teachers are members of the Burlington Chamber Orchestra and three even grew up as VSV students! Most of the students are or will be members of the Vermont Youth Orchestras. Thank you to Bolton Valley for sponsoring this week’s music!
