Ferrisburgh Central School, as a member of Vermont Safe Routes to Schools, will be participating in the annual Walk/Bike to School Day on Wednesday, October 5th! Being a rural area, many of our students do not have the opportunity to walk or bike to school, and we use this event to give them a small experience, on to which we attach in-school discussions about walking/biking awareness and safety, and about the health and learning benefits of physical activity.
Early Wednesday morning, around 7:40, the buses will drop off our students at the Denton Construction site driveway (Old Atkins Farm) where they will be met by school staff and proceed down Atkins Farm Road to a grassy path that leads to our school playground. From there they will try to walk a mile around our recently "re-stoned" 1/5 mile walking track before the end of morning recess. Chief George Merkel will join us, and we are inviting family and friends to meet us on the track for a quick 10-15 minute stroll. Good Energy and a Great Way to Start Your Day!!
