The Association of Vermont Conservation Commissions (AVCC) will hold its annual Conservation Summit on Saturday Oct 22nd at Lake Morey. The summit is the annual meeting of Conservation Commissions in Vermont and offers a broad array of training opportunities and interesting sessions on a wide variety of pressing issues. This year the theme is “Celebrating PLACE.” We’ll be exploring different aspects of this idea in presentations and discussions throughout the day. Our keynote speaker, Walter Poleman has 25 years of experience engaging communities in explorations of their town’s natural and cultural history, through education and celebration. The PLACE program has offered communities in-depth explorations of how their local cultural and natural histories merge into the landscape we see today.
