Dear Neighbors,

I hope you can join me on Wednesday, Sept. 28th to help kick off a campaign to win a $15 minimum wage in Vermont!

I’ll be joining others at 11:30 on Wednesday in the courtyard of the Christ Episcopal Church on 64 State Street for a press conference with the Vermont Raise the Wage Coalition, a group of advocacy and human rights organizations who are launching a campaign to pass legislation to raise the minimum wage in 2017.

RSVP on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/1209270069145819/
Or online at http://www.radvt.org/raise_the_wage_speakout

Starting at noon folks will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and stories about struggling with poverty wages and why this action is so important to working families in Vermont. If you want to learn from others’ stories, or have your own to share, please come out!

What: Raise the Wage Press Conference & Speak Out

When: Wednesday, Sept. 28th (11:30am -12:30pm)

Where: 64 State St (Christ Episcopal Church Courtyard)

Why: Thousands of working families in Vermont are currently struggling to get by on poverty wages. While the majority of economic gains since the recession have gone to the top 1%, median incomes in VT have fallen. Over 70,000 Vermonters are currently living below the federal poverty line, 12% of the state's population. It’s time for Vermont elected leaders to prioritize raising wages and building an economy for working families.

(The Raise the Wage Coalition consists of the following organizations: Vermont Interfaith Action, Rights & Democracy, Voices for Vermont’s Children, the Working Vermont Labor Coalition, Community of Vermont Elders, Vermont Network against Domestic and Sexual Violence, Green Mountain Self Advocates, the Burlington Fight for 15 coalition, and Hunger Free Vermont)
