There is a growing drug problem and it starts in our medicine cabinets. Many teens who have misused a prescription drug got it from their parent's medicine cabinet. Help be part of the solution.
While you're taking care of fall clean up and getting rid of unused and unwanted items in your home, don't forget to safely dispose of unused or expired pill and capsule prescription medications as well.
Saturday, October 22, 10am-2pm is the next DEA NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY
Most Rx drugs should not be flushed down the toilet, washed down the drain, composted, or left around the house. Proper disposal helps avoid harming water sources, wildlife, pets, and people. It also helps to prevent theft and misuse by others.
Check your medicine cabinets and those of your elderly relatives and bring to a site on October 22nd or use the 4 permanent, year round, locked drop boxes*.
Washington County Sheriff W. Samuel Hill, in cooperation with the DEA, Central Vermont New Directions Coalition, Washington County Youth Service Bureau, and the Vermont Department of Health Regional Prevention Partnerships, has coordinated 7 collection sites within Washington County.
