My name is Shannon Lee Gilmour. I am a resident of Montpelier, a mom of two, and I am also an eco-artist and designer, transforming post-consumer plastic waste. I care deeply about the environment and the future that we will leave to our children. I am passionate about developing solutions to transform the global plastic pollution problem. For the past six years, I have saved as much as I could of my family-of-four’s non-recyclable plastic waste. To date, I have saved over 400lbs. of plastic that would have ended up in the landfill.
You may ask: What in the world can be done with over 400lbs. of waste plastic? Please come and see.
I invite you to my art exhibit on the second floor of Studio Place Arts in Barre. The show runs from September 20 – November 5, 2016. The reception is Thurs, September 22, 5:30-7:30PM.
On exhibit is a group of post-consumer plastic sculptural installations of endangered plants. Also on exhibit is the first prototype of architectural design concept of extensible architecture, called Evolving Symmetry 1.0, that provides a basic foundation for communities to begin to utilize their clean and dry plastic waste to be used as a wall component for socially-beneficial architecture.
Please come to the show and invite your friends. Please post what you think of the show on FPF. Help begin a larger conversation on how and why we may want to change our thinking and actions related to plastic.
