This Week and Coming Events at Brookfield Old Town Hall!

Past event
Sep 24, 2016, 6 to 9 PM

A bit of fall chill is expected this Saturday, so join neighbors and friends for a Chili Fest, beginning at 6 pm and featuring favorite chili recipes from local home chefs – options to include meat, veggie, red, white, and more! There will also be mac and cheese available for kids. Following dinner, the Suspects will take the stage for a Chicago blues concert at 7pm.

The Suspects (formerly The Usual Suspects Blues Band) include Central Vermonters Phil Hyjek (vocal/guitar), Chris Stone (harmonica), Lee Gardner (lead guitar), Al Roy (drums) and Sam Burke (bass). They love to play anything that's Chicago style, but mix it up with some traditional blues, 70's folk, rock and the occasional soul number. A sampling of some of their covers: Feeling Alright, Thrill is Gone, All Along the Watchtower, Bring it on Home to Me, Gloria, and so many more!

Admission for this event is $10/adult for chili and music, $5/adult for just music, and children are free, and the event is sponsored by National Life Group Foundation.

Attention chili makers! If you’d like to make and contribute a pot of chili, please contact Shelby at 276-3535 or girard745@yahoo.com. Chili chefs receive free entry.

Then at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, come to the annual community-wide Spelling Bee! Young and old will gather in the Brookfield Old Town Hall for an afternoon of competitive fun!

The deadline for registration is Friday, September 23rd. Please go to the Brookfield Town website, Library tab to find the registration form and the WORDS! www.brookfieldvt.org

The Brookfield Old Town Hall and Brookfield Library are co-presenting the annual Old Town Hall Spelling Bee.

The competition is open to everyone, and a potluck dinner will follow, so please bring a dish to share.

Be sure to mark your calendars for two big events the first weekend of October – the third annual “Souper Supper” fundraiser with the Randolph Area Food Shelf on Saturday, Oct 1st at 6 pm, and Market Day with Floating Bridge Food and Farms Cooperative, featuring harvest produce and products from our local coop, a fabulous silent auction benefitting BCP, and the Brookfield Library’s very popular used books sale. Market Day is noon – 3 pm on Sunday, October 2nd.
