Are you interested in purchasing locally sourced, fresh and nutritious food right here in Guilford? Look no further, as the Guilford Local Food Market is well underway in its 5th season of operation. The Guilford Local Food Market operates out of Guilford Central School (GCS) and aims to increase access to local food for all people. It's a convenient way to support local growers and the GCS Farm to School program.
You place an order online for hyper-locally (30 mile radius) sourced food and pick up at the Guilford Central School every other Tuesday from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. You choose what you want and when you want to participate. If you can't make this pick up window, we can make alternate arrangements (read more below).
Visit www.TapalouGuilds.com and click on the "Local Food Market" link for more information and registration form.
Food items include: Seasonal produce (Guilford farms include Circle Mountain Farm, Up the Road Farm and Tapalou Guilds; other produce is sourced through farms in Windham County), Franklin Farm beef (coming later in the season), Green Mountain Creamery yogurt, Grafton cheese, Eggs, Orchard Hill Bread, Mocha Joe's Coffee, Green Mountain Orchards apples and VT Nut Butters.
We are exploring options for those who want to participate but are unable to make the pickup time. If you are a regular market buyer, would you be interested in becoming a "pocket pickup point person" for your neighbors and having your service fees waived? Orders would be organized and sent home with you, to be picked up by a time specified by you at your designated location. Proposed satellite points include: Algiers/Route 5, Green River, Weatherhead, West Guilford. Thoughts? Please get in touch with Hanna Jenkins at theneighborhoodmarket@gmail.com.
Your support is crucial to creating a robust local food system in Guilford!
