The future of Shaftsbury Elementary School will be impacted by Act 46. If we don't have a plan the State Board of Education will determine how the school operates and we will lose local control. Act 46 is complicated as has been discussed in the many meetings that have been held within our Supervisory Union for several months. Each school district in the state is unique and we hope to find a solution that best fits the needs of Shaftsbury's students.
It is important that voters are familiar with the facts so we can make an informed decision at the ballot box.
This meeting will outline Act 46 and try to examine the possibilities available to us.
Each of our citizens has a stake in this. It is important that we accept the challenge this legislation presents to us.
Act 46 at this point has restrictive time limits which adds urgency to what we have to do.
