Book Discussion of the Endurance by Caroline Alexander

Past event
Oct 9, 2016, 4 to 5:30 PM

Caroline Alexander’s book, The Endurance, Shackleton's Legendary Antarctic Expedition is the Vermont Humanities Council’s Vermont Reads selection for 2016. Exactly one hundred years ago, Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ship, the Endurance, was imprisoned and crushed by sea ice near Antarctica. It nearly cost his crew their lives, but all twenty-eight of them would survive. Theirs is one of the greatest adventure and survival stories of the twentieth century.

Come together to discuss the Vermont Reads book and explore additional materials and books gathered by the library to add to the discussion. Find out what has happened to the wreck of the Endurance and what they ate aboard! The discussion will be led by Jeudevine Library Director, Lisa Sammet. The program will be held at the Memorial Building at 20 Church Street, Hardwick, across from the library. Anyone needing an accessible entrance should call the library at 472-5948 and for any other information. Pick up a free copy to keep of the book now at the Jeudevine Library. There will be refreshments!
