Please join us Thursday, September 22 at 6pm for a lecture by Suzy Spence
Suzy Spence will give an educational talk about the work of Pat Steir in conjunction with the artist’s drawing exhibition at the Helen Day Art Center in Stowe. Spence will provide a framework for understanding Steir’s place in art history by considering her precedents, her contemporaries, and younger artists she’s influenced. The scale, medium, conceptual and formal approaches Steir employs will be discussed, as will the artist's significant alignment with the feminist movement of the 60s and 70s.
Suzy Spence is an Artist, Writer, and Curator who divides her time between Brooklyn, NY and Montpelier, VT.
