Past event
Sep 20, 2016, 7 to 9 PM

Tuesday, September 20: Johnson Death Cafe will have our regular meeting from 5:30 - 6:45 on September 20th at the Johnson Town Municipal Building. All are welcome.

At 7 pm, The Johnson Death Café is pleased to host author Peter Panagore who will present “How Dying Taught Me That Death is Just the Beginning” – a lecture and discussion about his near death experience on Tuesday September 20, 2016 at the Johnson Town Municipal Building. This event is free and everyone is welcome.

Mr. Panagore recently published a book about his near death experience (NDE) that took place in 1980 when he was ice climbing the world-famous Lower Weeping Wall in Alberta, Canada. On their descent, they became trapped and overcome by exhaustion and hypothermia, Panagore died on the side of the mountain. His minutes on the other side changed his life and are eloquently detailed in his book, Heaven is Beautiful.

Currently a retired pastor, Panagore hosts daily inspirational TV and radio broadcasts, writes for The Huffington Post, and lives in coastal Maine with his wife. He earned his M. Div. from Yale Divinity School. His 30 years of meditative practice and his work as a pastor with the dying and grieving has given Panagore a unique insight and perspective on heaven, God, death, life, love, beauty, and hope, all of which will undoubtedly be explored in his upcoming lecture.

Johnson Death Café which is hosting this event, meets on a monthly basis and like all death cafes, is a friendly and interesting group of people discussing death, dying and end of life concerns in a comfortable, safe and confidential setting. Newcomers are always welcome.
