FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Vermont’s Celtic Culture Highlighted in New Artist’s Studio
Bristol, Vermont – Artist and musician, Reagh Greenleaf Jr., shares his unique take on Celtic Art with Opening Reception on Thursday, September 22nd.
A singer and bodhrán player with Irish bands throughout New England, Greenleaf is accustomed to strong regional identities (“Boston Irish” for example).
In 2012, he moved to Vermont to live with wife, Megan, whom he’d met while performing at the Inn at Long Trail in Killington. Over the past four years, Reagh discovered a wealth of Celtic (Irish, Scottish, Welsh) culture in the state – but a lack of a cohesive ‘Celtic scene’.
The 38 year-old New Hampshire native hopes to change all that. He’s created a brand of original designs, Vermont Celtic™, printed on T-shirts, bumper stickers and giftware. He sells them at fairs, performances and online at VTCeltic.com.
“My goal is to put a visual stamp on Vermont’s Celtic heritage, something authentic we can all identify with – not just plastic shamrocks.” With Greenleaf as a family name, Reagh combined a Sugar Maple leaf with a Celtic triple-knot to create the brand’s logo.
VTCeltic goods, art prints and original works will be available at Greenleaf Studio’s Opening Reception: Thursday, September 22nd, 6:30-9 PM. 24 D Main Street, Bristol, VT (above Snap’s Restaurant, 2nd floor, sorry no ramp/elevator).
Reagh will discuss his creative process, and give a 20 minute bodhrán/folk song demonstration. There will be a sign-up for bodhrán workshops and lessons. BYOB, Barry’s Irish tea and light snacks provided.
