The Castleton Lions Club is the sponsor of the Hunter Safety Course at Kehoe Conservation Camp the week of September 26th. This course is put on with the assistance of the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife and also supported with some federal funding. It is at no cost to the participants.
There are five nights of lectures, demonstrations, practice and testing. Attendance is required. Registration starts on Monday at 5:30PM. Classes start at 6PM and end at 9PM on Monday thru Friday evenings. The Saturday class starts at 9AM.
You must pass the written exam on Friday evening to participate on Saturday. There will be live firing on the rifle range on Saturday morning. There is also an obstacle course on Saturday morning. Both the range and the obstacle course must be passed in order to get your Hunter Education card.
If you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian present on Monday night in order to take the course. Parents are encouraged to stay for all sessions. There is a parental consent form on the course website. Please print it, fill it out and bring it Monday night. Those parents who have not signed up in advance will be given an opportunity to take the course.
