Event: Sep 12, 2016, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Dear Neighbors,

This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its first of what may be three, possibly four meetings for the month of September in Contois Auditorium in City Hall. (A special meeting to vote on a second reading of the Downtown Mixed Use Core Overlay has not been scheduled as yet. It may be in late September or early October.)

We will begin our meeting with a report from the Police Commission and the Retirement Board. We will then hold a public hearing on an ordinance regarding animal boarding and shelter in the downtown zoning district.

Our next agenda item is the Council discussion and votes on amendments to the Downtown Mixed Use Core Overlay. The Council has 27 possible amendments that have been brought forward by Councilors as possible changes to the draft ordinance relating to the overlay that includes the Burlington Town Center site. Some of the amendments relate to the same issue. For example, there are 4 different amendments to the boundaries of the zone. There are five amendments relate to aspect of the exceptions to the height limits. There are amendments relating to parking, green buildings, signage and urban design standards.

As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm. Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website:
https://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public All Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please be in touch over the weekend and on Monday.
