PUBLIC NOTICE

Site Visit & Tree Inspection
At Hyde Park Elementary School

The Hyde Park Town Tree Warden, Jared Nunery, has called for a site visit on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. to inspect and discuss a hazard tree located on the Hyde Park Elementary School grounds. The tree has been determined to be a hazard tree and the tree warden’s preliminary recommendation is to remove the tree, likely an over 100-year old sugar maple, due to its failing health and to eliminate the risk of injuries to students and visitors to the school grounds. The report of the tree warden following an initial hazard tree assessment is available by contacting the Hyde Park Town Administrator at 888-2300 ext 2.

Any interested member of the Hyde Park community may attend and hear the initial report of the town tree warden and offer historical perspective on the tree, suggestions for replacement or any other information that they feel will be beneficial to the town tree warden in making a final decision. If the information presented confirms removal is appropriate, then a plan will need to be discussed with the school. If information leads to a need for further review, or there is an alternative to removal, then a public hearing will be scheduled under 24 VSA 2509, as soon as possible.
