To celebrate the 4th bountiful harvest at the Rowe Community Garden and the 10th anniversary of Little Rivers Health Care, join us for a free outdoor concert with Rik Palieri at the Wells River clinic on Saturday, September 17 at 2 pm. Rik sings and performs both original and traditional songs on a variety of folk instruments, including the banjo, 6 & 12 string guitars, mouth bow, Native American flute and a collection of rare Polish bagpipes. He has toured internationally, has released several CD’s, and performed with Pete Seeger for several years. His upcoming show in Wells River will feature a tribute to Seeger. Little Rivers Health Care – Wells River Clinic and the Rowe Community Garden are both located at 65 Main Street. Following the passing of Dr. Harry Rowe, founder of the clinic, his large garden was divided into plots and opened to gardeners who lacked space of their own. Stewardship of the community garden has been shared by the clinic, the vegetable gardeners group which meets regularly at the Baldwin Library, and the Wells River Action Program (WRAP). One or two garden plots are always reserved to supply the Wells River Emergency Food Shelf with fresh vegetables. Janis Moore, one of the Rowe Garden organizers, will offer a tour of the garden prior to the concert at 1:30 pm. This event is co-sponsored by Little Rivers Health Care, WRAP, and the Baldwin Memorial Library. In case in inclement weather, the concert will be held at the Wells River Congregational Church vestry, 76 Main Street.
