Hi everyone,
I'm Larry Montague, communications and outreach coordinator with Friends of the Winooski River. In the past, you've received requests to post on your local Front Porch Forum from our board members, Jeanne Keller and Noah Pollock. I will be starting to handle some of these requests from this point forward.
Thank you for continuing to help us spread the word about our events and projects. Will you please post this message about our moonlight paddle to your local forum? Once this week and once next week would be ideal.
Thanks again!
Cheers,
Larry
River of Light: Moonlight Paddle on the Winooski River, Friday, September 16th at 6pm
Imagine participating in a River of Light - a flotilla of brightly-lit watercraft drifting toward Lake Champlain under a Harvest Moon. Well, you can be a part of it!
Join Friends of the Winooski River on the evening of Friday, September 16th for the first annual River of Light - Harvest Moon Paddle to the lake! We will meet at 6pm at the Heineberg Bridge fishing access to drop off boats and shuttle cars down to the take out. We'll launch by sunset and paddle/float/putt-putt the 2 miles to the mouth of the river. Kayaks, canoes, small fishing boats all welcome. Just remember to bring lights, wear lights, string lights on your boat. Headlamps, glow sticks, paper lanterns - be creative, just be bright and colorful. A memorable night for all ages. Tell you neighbors and start working on your own light show. We hope you will consider a small donation ($5-$10 per person) to the Friends. Life jackets are mandatory for all participants. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Minors must be 16 or older to be in a boat by themselves.
