There will be a public meeting next week for the Richmond community to learn more about the Andrews Forestland opportunity and to offer input for the future of this land. If you were unable to make the public walk, or if you’d like to provide some more concrete input or ideas for the land’s future, please join us at the Richmond Free Library’s Community Room on Tuesday, September 13 at 7:00.
If you missed the background in my previous post, the Andrews family conserved 187 acres of their farmland on both sides of Route 2 next door to VYCC’s monitor barn property in 2013. They simultaneously sold the land to Bruce Hennessy and Beth Whiting of Maple Wind Farm. The Andrews continue to own 428 acres of forestland that they are looking to sell, and they would love to see the land remain forested and open to the public. They have been talking with the Vermont Land Trust to explore options, and we want to hear from the Richmond community--what do you want to see happen there? Hope to see you on the 13th!
