Gary Stroutsos, World Flute Master and Cultural Storyteller will be performing in the Round Church in Richmond, VT on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 3:30 PM. Gary performs world flute music drawn from many traditional cultures. Evoking a spirit of place and the voices of the land, his work includes internationally-acclaimed recordings at sacred sites, using the unique acoustics and history of each great space as the starting point for musical exploration.
Gary has become best known for his haunting work on the Native American Flute and has been acknowledged as having made a significant contribution to the preservation of American Indian music and culture. His music was showcased in the Ken Burns PBS documentary “Lewis and Clark: Journey of the Corps of Discovery” which led to a command performance at the White House for President Bill Clinton. Songs and stories from this experience will be part of his performance. Ken Burns said of Gary “I cannot imagine trying to come to terms with the history of this complicated country I have chosen to make my life’s work without Gary’s exquisite mastery and understanding of its many varied musical traditions. We don’t leave home without him.”
Admission to the concert is by a suggested donation of $10. The Round Church is handicapped accessible. For more information about the concert 802-434-3654 or rhs@oldroundchurch.com. To learn more about Gary Stroutsos www.garystroutsos.com.
