September 10, 2016 is Winooski River cleanup day, brought to you by the Friends of the Winooski River! The Middlesex Conservation Commission is looking for volunteers to help beautify a stretch of river near the Three Mile Bridge Road bridge. We will be meeting at 195 Three Mile Bridge Road, which is a vacant lot next to the bridge, at 8:30 a.m. and plan to work until noon.
What to bring: Sandals or old shoes, sunscreen, plenty of water, snacks, work gloves, shovels, buckets, and a boat if you have one. Row boats and plastic or metal canoes work best.
The whole family is welcome, however, river cleanups aren't geared towards small children. If interested, please contact me by email and indicate whether you plan on bringing a boat. This is also an opportunity to check out the one acre town-owned lot next to the bridge and discuss possible future uses.
Please contact me by responding to this post if interested. The Friends of the Winooski also have an online sign up (https://signup.com/client/invitation/6775657374/1542099/false#!1542099/false/false) that helps them get an accurate head count for planning of future clean up efforts. If you use the sign up please indicate you are part of the "Middlesex Group."
Thanks and hope to see you out there!
