I know we're out in Jericho, but many of us work and spend time in Burlington too. Thought some of our members might be interested in hearing about this:
"Via Ward 5 Resident Kit O’Connor:
Regardless of whether Burlington receives Syrian refugees, Amnesty International USA’s Vermont leadership has asked the Burlington City Council to consider a symbolic resolution welcoming them. In September, Councilors Selene Colburn and Joan Shannon will introduce this resolution. Why symbolic? What’s a refugee? Who would qualify? Come to a free informational/discussion event on September 7 from 6:30-8 at the Fletcher Free Library to learn answers to these questions, discuss hopes and concerns and more!
